About the cylinder outline and dimensions

Supplied cylinder reference: 18 inches overall height, 12.3 inches diameter, 8 inches foot-ring diameter and 12.2-inch vertical callout

The outline follows the supplied height-to-width ratio. This is a front-view art template, not a wraparound pattern or full-size cutting stencil. Internal details and the drawing area are illustrative.

The reference’s 12.2-inch vertical callout is retained as supplied, not assumed to be the usable cutting height. All sizing and fabrication must be checked against the actual retired cylinder.

Three winners get their designs brought to life and displayed at Nightmare on North Sound: Escape the Asylum.

Kids design. Trained professionals handle the cylinders.

Enter with artwork only. Never cut, drill, grind, heat, puncture or alter a propane cylinder, even an “empty” one. All preparation and fabrication are for trained personnel under approved safety procedures, using cylinders permanently removed from gas service. No cylinder is needed to enter.

The prepared social message includes the age category, not the child's name or private contact details.

I am the child’s parent or guardian. I confirm the child lives in Cayman, is age 15 or younger, and this submission contains one design. I give permission for this artwork to be used for the competition and, if selected, adapted for fabrication, photographed and displayed on the Nightmare Trail and in the winner announcement.

This prepares a file and message. Your parent still needs to send them.

Before you let the monsters out.

Who can enter, and how many designs can we send?+

Children living in Cayman aged 15 and under can enter. The age categories are Under 6, 6–10 and 11–15. There is no limit on the number of entries. Submit each design separately through a parent or guardian.

Do we have to use this designer?+

No. Print the cylinder outline or draw on any plain paper. A parent can select a photo or completed PDF here and submit it directly by email to [email protected], or send a clear image in the Facebook competition-post comments or by Instagram DM to @homegascayman.

Will the finished lantern look exactly like the glow preview?+

The glow view is an illustration, not a cutting plan. Winning designs will be reviewed and may need adjustment by the trained fabrication team to suit the actual retired cylinder.

Can we come back and finish our drawing?+

Yes, in the same browser on the same device, when local storage is available. Shapes and drawing strokes stay individually editable. An older saved drawing may return as one movable image. Use Save draft and download a backup. Clearing browser data may delete your drawing. Uploaded files and parent details are not saved as drafts.

Do we need an old propane cylinder?+

No. Send artwork only. Children and families must never modify a propane cylinder. Trained personnel handle all cylinder preparation and fabrication.

The drawing tools need JavaScript. Get the contest PDF to draw on paper. You can also draw on plain paper and have a parent email a photo to Info@Nightmare.ky with subject "Frank O'Lantern Entry", post it in the Facebook competition-post comments, or send an Instagram DM to @homegascayman. Include the age category; send parent name, email and phone only by private email, not in public comments.
